About 4x6photo.com
We build simple, privacy-first web utilities that bridge the gap between digital cameras and physical printing.
The Problem We Solve
Standard digital photographs captured on modern smartphones default to a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio. However, standard photo paper at retail kiosks (such as Walgreens, CVS, or Walmart) uses a 3:2 ratio (4x6 inches).
When you upload uncropped phone photos directly to photo printing apps, the retail systems will automatically crop the sides or top to fit the paper. This often chops off important details, such as the tops of heads, landscape horizons, or group members.
4x6photo.com was created to solve this problem instantly. Our tool locks a perfect 3:2 frame, letting you manually adjust the cropping window before downloading a file resized to the exact pixels required for a crisp print.
Who We Are
4x6photo.com is maintained by a small team of photography enthusiasts, print technicians, and developers dedicated to helping families organize and preserve physical memories.
Marcus Chen
Co-founder & Lead Print Tech
Marcus has over 12 years of experience managing professional photo printing labs. He specializes in color profiles, paper finishes, and resizing algorithms for commercial prints.
Sarah Jenkins
Co-founder & Web Developer
Sarah is a front-end engineer and family photographer. Frustrated by the lack of simple tools to print her children's photos at Walgreens, she built the core local cropping engine.
100% Browser-Based Security
Unlike other online image croppers, we do not upload your images to any remote servers. Your privacy and the safety of your family photos is our highest priority.
Our app is powered by modern HTML5 Canvas, Web Workers, and WebAssembly technologies. When you select a photo:
- The image is converted to a local memory reference directly in your browser tab.
- HEIC-to-JPEG conversion (for iPhone photos) runs locally using your CPU.
- The final cropping and high-resolution export are processed on a background thread (Web Worker) without network communication.
